Acclimate Yourself With The Bible 5

----------
God wants you to know who he is.  What would you do if you wanted a person to get to know you?  The obvious first step would be to tell them your name.  This leads us to ask,"Does God have a name?"  The answer for many religions is God's name is God or Lord.  However, these are titles, like president or king, not a name.  In the Bible many titles for God are found, God and Lord are just two of the titles found there.  The Bible also tells us the name of God.  Psalm 83:18 reads,"You, whose name is Jehovah, you alone are the Most High over all the earth."  If your Bible translation does not contain the name Jehovah, please, see The Divine Name Of God to learn why some Bible translations omit the name of God.  The fact of the matter is God's name appears thousands of times in the ancient manuscripts from which the Bible is translated.  Jehovah wants you to know and use his name.  You can think of the Bible as an introduction to Jehovah God.

The name God chose for himself is a name full of meaning.  Jehovah literally means He causes to become.  This means God can fulfill all promises he makes and carry out  everything he has in mind.  Jehovah is a unique name; a name that belongs only to him.  The matchlessness of his name manifests itself in a variety of ways.  Let's explore this further.

We have found that Psalm 83:18 says of Jehovah, "You alone are Most High."  In the same vein, Jehovah alone is caled "the Almighty".  Revelation15:3 states: "Great and wonderful are your works, Jehovah God, the Almighty.  Righteous and true are your ways, King of eternity."  The fact that Jehovah is the most powerful being in that exists is stated in the title "the Alimghty".  No one cane match his power, it is supreme.  The title "King of eternity" tells us that Jehovah has another unique aspect about him.  Jehovah alone has always existed.Psalm 90:2 says "Even from time indefinite to time indefinite you are God.  That is an awe inspiring thought.

Another unique aspect of Jehovah is that he is the Creator.  Revelation 4:11  You are worthy, Jehovah, even our God, to receive the glory and the honor and the power, because you created all things, and because of your will they existed and were created.  From invisible spirit creatures in heaven to fruit bearing trees, all the stars in the night sky to all the fish in the sea; everything a person can think of came into existence because Jehovah God willed it to be so.
