What Is Known About White Bread

Britain’s The Daily Mail writes:
“[In modern times], the Real Bread Campaign, a non-profit pressure group, claims that bread has actually gotten worse since 1911 in terms of secret adulterants — enzymes that do not have to be declared on labels — still being smuggled into it. Today, despite the modern fashion for healthy eating, ‘nutritionally empty’ white bread accounts for more than 50 percent of what we buy.”

In 1911, the average Briton’s diet contained about 40% white bread. Britain’s rampant malnutrition at the time was blamed on the consumption of the large amounts of white bread. This theory has been proven by modern science.

Refined flour, indeed, any refined product, has virtually all nutrients removed. Vitamin B deficiency in particular, is a result of a poor diet and is the primary cause of a number of diseases.

An incredible fact is that the bread that comprised forty percent of the average Briton’s diet one hundred years ago, and the situation was similar in the United States, now is nearly fifty percent of the average diet. And it has been theorized thst today’s white bread is of even lower quality for reasons that will be revealed in this post.

After white bread was found to be a major contributor in the cause of widespread malnutrition, it was attempted to get people to return to whole grain bread. Despite this massive effort, the fact that whole grain bread on the dinner table was a sign of poverty stopped this effort before it was even started.

Britons were deemed to be in better health by the end of World War II as white bread was banned for eight years. The limited rations of whole grain breads seems to be the difference.

In 1911, cheap fats, lime powder, alum, salt and bleaching agents were the cause of white bread being harmful to your health. While some of these chemicals have been eliminated from white bread, other, possibly more dangerous chemicals have been added.

These harmful ingredients include, but are not limited to: high fructose corn syrup, soy, emulsifiers, preservatives, treatment agents, reducing agents and enzymes.

Due to the fact that many of these items are not required by law to be listed in the ingredients panel, many consumers are entirely unaware that they are eating these items.

When any food is refined, it loses nutritive value. The process of refining food strips the majority of nutrients from it. For example, half or more of unsaturated fatty acids are removed during the refining process. Nearly all of vitamin E is removed. Fifty percent of calcium is lost. Seventy percent of phosphorous. Eighty percent of iron. Ninety eight percent of magnesium is stripped. Fifty to eighty percent of B vitamins are destroyed. The list of lost nutrients is simply too large to be able to list them all in this post.

Eating large amounts of white bread or other processed grain products leads obesity, diabetes, heart disease, allergies and asthma, gluten intolerance and vitamin deficiencies and health problems related to these deficiencies.

Vitamin B Deficiency causes a lack of energy or lethargy and numerous other health concerns. It is estimated that nearly twenty five percent of adults in the United States lack adequate amounts of vitamin B12.

Gluten intolerance and numerous other digestive ailments have seen a dramatic increase. One of the primary causes of this is believed to be the modern baking methods now in use. Also, the increase in asthma and allergies is believed to be caused by the inclusion of amylase in foods.  Amylase is known to cause asthma.

Most people do not think of the multitude of fungicides and pesticides used in wheat production. This begins with the seeds as they are sprayed with fungicide. The plants are then sprayed with hormones and pesticides. The bins that are used to store harvested wheat are also sprayed with insecticide.

While being processed, the wheat is treated with chlorine oxide to whiten and age the wheat. Flour was once aged by time, which improved gluten quality. Treating the flour with chlorine oxide produces a white flour instantly, similar to that found in aged flour. However, the chlorine kills the majority of the remaining nutrients. Not to mention adding still more chemicals.

Providers of mass produced food are not your friends. They are not trying to deliver a high quality product. Instead, they try to get a product to market as quickly as possible. To do this they add many chemicals to the product, without a care for the person that consumes it. Their only concern is the bottom line. Odds are against the members of the boards of these companies actually eating their products. They know what they do to the food.

Eating fresh products is the best way to eliminate unwanted chemicals from the diet. These chemicals cause too many health concerns to list. Your health is too important to chance by eating any processed foods. It may take a little more time to prepare fresh foods, however, they are much more enjoyable. Not to mention the fact that by avoiding all the chemicals you may be adding more time to your life than used in preparing fresh meals. Certainly an issue to consider. Good health to you!

Aspartame Causes Cancer

Many people use aspartame to sweeten food when they try to reduce body fat.  Others use it because they want to avoid eating refined sugar.  They believe it is safe to use, however, is this actually the case?  Victoria Inness-Brown was researching this very subject and found the Bressler report.  In this report, she noticed that Bressler talked about sizable tumors cause by the ingestion of DKP (diketopiperazine), which is a metabolite of aspartame.  A metabolite is a compound that is formed when food that is digested is processed for use by the body.

This made her concerned for her family’s welfare.  Nevertheless, she was aware that just because someone else says this is so does not necessarily mean that it is so.  So, she decided to perform her own experiment.  One of the most significant aspects of her experiment is that it is easily replicated; i.e. anyone can perform this experiment and get the same results.  She is not a doctor, she is a concerned person that wanted to know for herself.  She also received no payments or incentives for her research; it was completely independent.

Victoria started with 108 rats that she raised herself.  She used 30 males and 30 females as her experimental group and used 24 males and 24 females as her control group.  Victoria is not a food researcher and, therefore, was unable to acquire pure aspartame.  She used NutraSweet dissolved in water to replace pure aspartame.  Each day she gave the rats a dose of  NutraSweet equivalent to 14 cans of diet soda for the females and 13 cans of diet soda for the males.  This sounds like an excessive amount, however, is within the acceptable daily intake (ADI) that the FDA has set at 50 mg per kilogram of weight.  More importantly, it is also what some people consume each day!

tumorous rat

After 30 months of this routine, Victoria had some astounding results.  67% of the females had tumors the size of golf balls or even larger!  Some were even as big as the palm of her hand!  21% of the males developed tumors.   The picture above is of one of Victoria’s rats.  Victoria was not able to get necropsies performed on the original set of rats, nonetheless, she started a generational study with their offspring and had the county veterinarian perform necropsies on several of those animals.  The tumors that were present were found to be cancerous.  The veterinarian also found tumors that were readily apparent to the casual observer.

In addition to the 3:1 ratio of  affected females to affected males, Victoria’s study found a great number of tumors to be located in the mammary glands.  This finding is in agreement with the findings published by Dr. H. J.Roberts in his book Aspartame Disease: An Ignored Epidemic.

In addition to the tumors that Victoria found during her study, she also noticed a wide variety of other adverse affects.  These were presumably caused by the aspartame as they were not noticed in the control group.  Included among these symptoms are: neurological effects such as difficulty walking or falling over; paralysis;  Torticollis (also known as wryneck: neck stiffness associated with muscle spasms, resulting in tilting your head to one side); symptoms of cerbral palsy; eye disorders such as infected eyes, bleeding eyes, blindness, bulging eyes; skin disorders lesions, thinning and yellowing of the fur and obesity.

Victoria also discovered evidence that suggests genetic damage.  Two of the second generation of rats were born with only one eye.  They both had two eye sockets, yet only had one eye.

Other studies have confirmed that aspartame causes cancer.  Dr. Soffrinti of The Cesare Maltoni Cancer Research Center of the European Ramazzini Foundation has conducted two aspartame safety studies on rats.  In his first study he found the rats developed high rates of lymphoma and leukemia after being fed the equivalent of four to five diet sodas worth of aspartame each day.  At the largest dose, 25% of the experimental females developed lymphoma-leukemia as compared to 8.7% of the control females.  The results of this experiment found that only 400 parts per million were necessary to have a carcinogenic effect.  Two years later, The Ramazzini Foundation, published a follow up study that proves when aspartame exposure begins in the womb the carcinogenic effect of aspartame is dramatically increased.

The FDA is aware of these findings, yet does no research of their own, nor do they make it known to general public that these studies exist and that aspartame can cause serious health issues.  For this and many other reasons, you should be certain that you are informed about the products that you eat.  Godd health to you!

Aspartame Warning

If you drink diet soda or eat any sugar-free foods, then you are probably aware of aspartame. Aspartame is the scientific name for artificial sweeteners such as NutraSweet, Equal, Spoonful and Equal-Measure.

Unknown to most people, aspartame is responsible for 75% of adverse reactions to food additives that are reported to the FDA. These reactions are often severe including seizures and death. A sample of the 90 documented symptoms caused by aspartame sensitivity are: headaches/migraines, joint pain, memory loss, dizziness, seizures, nausea, numbness, muscle spasms, weight gain, rashes, depression, fatigue, irritability, tachycardia (abnormally rapid heartbeat), insomnia, vision problems, hearing loss, heart palpitations, breathing difficulties, anxiety attacks, slurred speech, loss of taste, tinnitus and vertigo.

Researchers that have studied aspartame report that these chronic illnesses can be triggered or worsened through the consumption of aspartame: brain tumors, diabetes, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, parkinson’s disease, alzheimer’s, mental retardation, lymphoma and birth defects.

In his book Excitotoxins: The taste that kills, Russell L. Blaylock professor of neurosurgery at the Medical University of Mississippi uses nearly 500 scientific references to describe the damage caused by free excitatory amino acids such as aspartic acid (40% of aspartame) and glutamic acid ( nearly 99% of MSG).

How Aspartate and Glutamate Inflict Damage

When aspartate and glutamate reach the brain, they act as neurotransmitters. A neurotransmitter is a neurochemical that transmits nerve impulses across a synapse. A large amount of aspartate or glutamate will kill certain neurons by allowing too much calcium into the cells. This also causes free radicals to appear, which ultimately kill the cells. This is why aspartate and glutamate are called excitotoxins, these substances stimulate the neurons till they die.

Aspartic Acid (40% of aspartame)

Aspartic acid is actually an amino acid. If ingested when not bound to a protein, aspartic acid dramatically raises blood plasma levels of aspartate and glutamate. The blood brain barrier normally protects the brain from excesses of aspartate and glutamate and other toxins. The blood brain barrier is not fully developed in childhood, which causes aspartate and glutamate to be even more damaging to children.

Neurons are slowly deteriorated by these toxins. Before any symptoms are noticed, 75% or more of a specific area of the brain, notably the hypothalamus, is destroyed. The following are a few of the chronic illnesses worsened by long-term exposure to these toxins: Multiple sclerosis (MS), ALS, memory loss, hormonal problems, hearing loss, epilepsy, Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, Hypoglycemia,AIDS, Dementia, brain lesions and neuroendocrine disorders.

The elderly, pregnant women, infants and people with chronic health problems are at greater risk.

Phenylalanine (50% of aspartame)

Phenylalanine is a naturally occurring amino acid that is found in the brain. However, people that suffer from phenylketonuria (PKU) cannot metabolize phenylalanine. This can cause abnormally high levels of phenylalanine, sometimes even lethal, in the brain. Studies have shown that eating aspartame, especially in the presence of carbohydrates, can lead to raised levels of phenylalanine even in persons that do not have PKU. These high levels of phenylalanine can cause the levels of serotonin in the brain to decrease which can cause emotional disorders such as depression. The build up of phenylalanine in the brain can cause schizophrenia and make a person more susceptible to seizures.

Methanol (10% of aspartame)

Methanol/wood alcohol is a deadly poison. Methanol is released in the small intestine as the methyl group of aspartame reacts with chymotrypsin. The body absorbs methanol much more quickly when free methanol is eaten. When aspartame is heated above 86 degrees Fahrenheit, free methanol is created. This may happen if an aspartame containing food is mishandled or heated, such as sugar free gelatin.

Methanol is metabolized into formic acid and formaldehyde. Formaldehyde is a deadly neurotoxin. The EPA says of methanol,”…is considered a cumulative poison due to the low rate of excretion once it is absorbed. In the body, methanol is oxidized to formaldehyde and formic acid; both of these metabolites are toxic.” The EPA recommends that methanol consumption be limited to 7.8 mg/day. One liter of a beverage sweetened with aspartame contains approximately 56 mg of methanol. People that consume large amounts of aspartame may be ingesting 250 mg os more of methanol each day. Methanol poisoning symptoms include: headaches, ear buzzing, dizziness, nausea, gastrointestinal disturbances, weakness, vertigo, chills, memory lapses, numbness and shooting pains in the extremities, behavioral disturbances, and neuritis. The most well known problems from methanol poisoning are vision problems including misty vision, progressive contraction of visual fields, blurring of vision, obscuration of vision, retinal damage, and blindness.

Humans do not synthesize some key enzymes that are necessary to safely metabolize methanol that animals do create. This means animal testing of aspartame or methanol cannot accurately reflect the danger they have for humans.

The consumption of aspartame has been shown to be hazardous to humans. Any products that contain aspartame should be removed from your home. Good health to you!

Is Drinking Soda Dangerous

It has been the realization of many people that at the very least soda is fattening. Despite this awareness, close to 50 billion liters of soda are consumed in the United States each year. That is nearly 216 liters per person! Now, science has provided definitive proof of the danger of drinking excessive amounts of soda.

When you drink soda your blood sugar rises dramatically. The increased blood sugar levels cause your pancreas to manufacture insulin. Your liver responds to the insulin by turning the sugar into fat, unless it is immediately needed for energy. After an hour, you will have a blood sugar crash and may be tempted to get another soda and start the process again.

Soda is sweetened with high fructose corn syrup. Your liver processes fructose. A significant difference between fructose and other sugars is that fructose is mainly transformed to fat. It has been estimated that drinking two bottles of soda each day can lead to the accumulation of one pound of fat each week!

When fructose is metabolized by your liver a considerable amount of toxins are created. Among these toxins is uric acid which causes high blood pressure and gout.

Contents of soda:

Approximately 150 calories that are have no nutritional value other than energy. Most of these calories will become fat.

The federal government has established a limit of 5 parts per billion of benzene in drinking water. Researchers have determined that some soft drinks have a benzene level as high as 79 parts per billion.

Phosphoric acid is also found in soda. Phosphoric acid may impede your body’s ability to absorb calcium. This may lead to osteoporosis.

Many brands of soda contain caffeine. Caffeine may cause you to feel jittery, insomnia, cause high blood pressure, irregular heartbeat, birth defects, breast lumps, vitamin and mineral deficiency and possibly some forms of cancer.

Diet sodas use aspartame for sweetness. Aspartame consumption is associated with numerous health issues including: epileptic seizure, emotional disorder, brain tumors, birth defects and diabetes.

Many sodas contain artificial colors. Among these is caramel coloring which has been identified as being carcinogenic. Furthermore, in laboratory experiments scientists discovered caramel coloring interferes with leukocyte action. This means that caramel coloring inhibits the immune system.

Sulfites are found in many sodas. If you are sensitive to sulfites they can cause headaches, rashes and breathing problems.

A preservative that is common to many sodas is sodium benzoate. Sodium benzoate may cause DNA damage which may possibly lead to cirrhosis of the liver and Parkinson’s disease.

To greatly improve your health, you should quit drinking soda. Water is a much better choice, however, you should filter your tap water or buy bottled water. If you cannot live without carbonated beverages, you should drink sparkling mineral water with lime or lemon juice. Many health benefits can be found with the consumption of green tea.

Cutting soda from your diet will greatly improve your health. You may get clearer skin and lose weight and prevent a number of disorders from occurring as was previously mentioned in this post. Good health to you!

Dangers of Soy Protein

For years the public has been led to believe that soy protein is a wonder food. This has led to a multi-billion dollar soy industry. However, it is coming to light that far from being good for you, soy is actually damaging to your health. Wonder food? Wonder why we call it food!

It is estimated by the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America that soy protein is among the nine most common food allergens for pediatric and adult food allergy patients. It is still uncertain what component of soy causes the allergic reactions, nonetheless, 15 allergenic proteins have been identified in soy.

The soybean was first used by the Chinese as a source of green manure. Green manure is a crop that is grown and then plowed under to enrich the nutrient content of the soil. The Chinese discovered the digestive problems connected with the consumption of soybean such as bloating and gas. After soy fermentation was discovered, the Chinese began to use soy as human food.

Fermentation destroys the majority of harmful agents in soy protein and allows for human consumption without digestive upset and mineral loss in bones that is associated with eating non-fermented soy products. Nevertheless, in the United States, soy is sold in its non-fermented state. This leaves the toxins that are found naturally in soy in your diet! Furthermore, processing non-
fermented soy causes the proteins in soy to be incomplete and increases the concentration of carcinogens!

Soybeans have a large concentration of phytic acid. Phytic acid blocks the absorption of essential minerals: iron, calcium, copper, magnesium and especially zinc. The soybean has one of the highest phytate levels of all grains and legumes studied. To make matters worse, the phytates in soy are resistant to standard phytate reducing methods, most notably long, slow cooking. There is only one method that significantly reduces phytate levels in soybeans-fermentation.

Soy provided food engineers the platform to provide a meatless protein product. Now, soy products are found in nearly all processed food. The list is quite lengthy: soy sausages, soy burgers, chicken-like soy patties, packaged soy milk, protein powders, energy bars, veggie burgers, low-carbohydrate pastas as well as countless foods containing soy protein isolate, soy
protein concentrate, and texturized vegetable protein. You should read the labels of all foods you eat.

Most soy products contain phytoestrogen, estrogen derived from a plant source, and are called soy isoflavones. Studies have shown that soy isoflavones decrease the levels of testosterone in lab animals and humans. The Chinese do not eat soy in its non-fermented state, except monks in monasteries that wish to decrease their libido.

Babies are particularly vulnerable to the effects of soy isoflavones. Many infant formulas have soy isoflavones as their
base. The Swiss Federal Health Service indicates that an infant fed soy based formula ingests the phytoestrogen equivalent of 3-5 birth control pills a day! This may cause the delayed onset of puberty in males and the early onset of puberty in females. Reproductive problems are likely to occur in adulthood.

Soy isoflavones are also damaging to the thyroid. People that eat large amounts of soy often complain of the same symptoms: hair loss, dry itchy skin, depression, weight gain and diminished sex drive. These people typically test positive for hypothyroidism. Studies have shown that soy is a poor source of protein and causes many health problems. Soy can also inhibit your efforts to lose weight. Products made with canola oil are an ideal substitute for those that are made with soybean oil. Dangers of Soy Protein
